UPDATE, 7/26 — WM SENIORS LOST TO OHIO, 2-1, IN THE CENTRAL REGION CHAMPIONSHIP.

Looking back thru recent history, in the Senior League Division, West Madison has been to the Central Regionals in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2011-2015, and now 2017.  So we’ve been there 11 times in the past 17 years, 8 of the last 10, 6 of the last 7. Lost in semifinals 2002, 2003, 2013, 2014. Lost in finals 2015 and 2017. Went to World Series in 1967, 1971, 1977 and 2009 and been to semis 4 out 5, finals 2 out of 3. That’s a strong legacy.

One thing is for certain with this 2017 WMLL Senior team and that  is they made an impression on some lifelong fans that live in the Peru/ Oglesby IL area. The fans are a mother and daughter who come to the Regional Tournament every year and ‘adopt’ a team. This year they chose West Madison and posted this on their Facebook page after today’s game.  ” Accordingly,  it’s sad to say the team Rebekah and I (her Mom) chose to cheer for this year lost in the Championship game. Wisconsin lost to Ohio 2-1. We were amazed at the maturity of the young men that played on this team. These young men could teach a lot of adults about how to act when you win, and when you lose. When the loss is fresh, to hear these people yelling “Good Luck” to the winners is touching. You represented your state well. Thank you.”

Congratulations and best of luck to all WMLL teams in your remaining tournaments.
