Major changes to bat rules for baseball

Beginning January 1, 2018, all bats used in Little League baseball, excluding the Senior League, shall bear the USA Baseball logo (shown above) signifying that the bat meets the USA Baseball’s Youth Bat Performance Standard.

Essentially, all bats that were deemed legal for use in 2017 are prohibited in the 2018 season. The exception is that bats that meet the BBCOR standard will still be legal for use in the Senior League.

More information regarding the bat rules can be found HERE on the Little League website & a list of approved bats can be found HERE on USA Baseball’s website.

Note: The new bat rules do NOT apply to girls’ softball.

Questions regarding WMLL’s implementation of this and other rules can be directed to the WMLL Baseball Operations Committee Chairman, Harry Miller, mill7049@gmail.com.
