WMLL Seniors finish as State champs & Central States Region semifinalist

Wisconsin State Tournament – champions

WMLL’s Senior Division team won the State Senior Baseball Championship with a 5-0 victory over Oak Creek on July 15.  They advanced to the championship game by beating Oak Creek 19-0 & Menominee Falls 16-0.  On their way to the State championship, WMLL went undefeated and didn’t allow a single run to be scored against them!

Central States Regional Tournament – pool play

By winning the State Senior Baseball Championship, WMLL’s Senior Division team advanced to the Central States Regional Tournament in Peru, IL where they represented the state of Wisconsin.  Other participants in the tournament were teams representing Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio & the tournament host Illinois District 20.  Wisconsin (WMLL) won three of their four pool games, beating Illinois District 20 5-2, Iowa 9-3 & Missouri 15-4 before losing to Illinois 7-10.

Central States Regional Tournament – single-elimination bracket play

The top six seeded teams after pool play advanced to a single-elimination bracket with games on July 24 & 25.  Based on their strong performance, Wisconsin (WMLL) received a two-seed, giving them a bye into the semifinal game on July 25 against Illinois District 20.  Unfortunately, while the Wisconsin (WMLL) team played hard, they lost the semifinal game 4-8.  Illinois District 20 advanced to the championship game against top-seeded Michigan. Click HERE to go to the regional tournament website
