Navigating COVID – 2/9/21

February 9, 2021

WMLL remains fully committed to providing as meaningful a season of baseball and softball as the circumstances will allow & to provide that experience in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with county & state requirements.  We are also committed to providing timely updates as new information becomes available.

As such, we are pleased to report that on February 8, Public Health Madison & Dane County (PHMDC) issued Emergency Order #13 which will go into effect on February 10 & remain in place until March 10 (at which time it will be extended or updated). Order #13 has a number of significant updates – including to the requirements for sports.  You can read the full order HERE & a FAQ specific to sports HERE.

With the release of Order #13, WMLL is currently planning to return to normal rules of play, a normal playing field & a normal league schedule for both baseball & softball during the 2021 spring/summer season.  Players will, however, be required to wear a mask at all times during games*, and the expanded off-field player seating areas and equipment & handwashing requirements from 2020 will still be used.  Each field will be able to have 100 total players & spectators in attendance, but everyone (players, coaches, volunteers, spectators & staff) must wear a mask at all times at the WMLL ballpark*.  WMLL is also planning to form “all star” tournament teams to compete in area tournaments as has been done in past years.

The Board will continue to closely monitor PHMDC requirements as well as information from Little League, the CDC, etc.  If PHMDC orders change, WMLL will adjust plans accordingly & provide updates to WMLL players, families and volunteers in a timely fashion

THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF THE WMLL COMMUNITY!
