It is with tremendous sadness that WMLL shares news of the unexpected passing of WMLL coach Ron Belshaw due to cardiac arrest on March 18.
Anyone who has been at WMLL in recent years has certainly crossed paths with a Belshaw. In addition to Ron’s coaching at WMLL, all four of his children, Maddie, Grace, Sydney and Ben, played at WMLL. His brother Jeff is also a WMLL coach, and Jeff’s four sons, Zac, Bryce, Clayton and Maxwell, also all played or currently play at WMLL. Ron is also survived by his longtime partner Emma Loehnertz; his mother Ruth Belshaw, his ex-wife Kelly Belshaw, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Besides being a dedicated coach, Ron was an amazing father, loving family man and great friend. Away from WMLL, Ron worked in the construction trade, was a highly skilled craftsman, an accomplished guitar player and a lifelong Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Ron was the family’s primary wage earner and was proudly working to put his children through college.
A private family-only viewing was held and a celebration of Ron’s life will take place during the summer. In lieu of flowers, the Belshaw family requests that memorials and/or donations be made online at https://gofund.me/2417bd62. All donations will go to Ron’s funeral costs and an education fund for his four children.
You can read Ron’s full obituary and also view and sign a Ryan Funeral Home guestbook at https://www.ryanfuneralservice.com/obituary/RonaldRon-Belshaw.
WMLL is thankful for everything that Ron did as a coach and supporter of WMLL softball. He not only touched the lives of the many players he coached and their families, but was also always happy to help younger players increase their skills, confidence and love of the game at clinics that he led with his team. WMLL wishes Ron’s family peace, comfort, and strength throughout this incredibly difficult time.
