Nationals Tournament Run Ends

The West Madison Nationals had a 2-0 lead after the first inning on but it wasn’t enough.  Kenosha rallied for 5 in the second inning and held off the Nationals 10-3, ending a great season for the West Madison team.

Congratulations to the players – Jacob S., Elliot, Felix, Tyson, Trenton, Isaac, Ray, Jacob M, Jackson, Grizz, Sammy, Lincoln and Eli and the coaches – Zach Morris, Andy Boucher and Geoff Baer – on an exciting tournament run. They are the first West Madison team to make it to State since 2017!  Great job!

July 28
It took 7 innings but the West Madison National team fought it’s way to the State Championship game on Thursday night!  A walk-off homer in the bottom of the 7th gave West Madison a hard fought victory over Glendale 8-5.  In the other Semifinal, Kenosha beat Rhinelander 10-0 and pitched a no-hitter.
West Madison and Kenosha meet tonight at 6 PM for the Championship!

July 26
After the West Madison Nationals had taken a 3-0 lead with 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning, Kenosha answered with 4 in the top of 6th and held on to win 4-3 on Tuesday at West Madison Little League.  Rhinelander also notched a comeback win by erasing a 3-1 deficit with 5 runs in the top of the 5th and beat Ashland 6-3.  Glendale topped Madison Kennedy 10-6 in the other pool play game.

Kenosha’s win puts them at 4-0 in pool play and guarantees them the top spot in the championship round. West Madison National and Glendale are 3-1 and will meet Wednesday at 6 PM to determine who will be the #2 and #3 seed.  Rhinelander and Kennedy are both 1-3 and will meet at 5 PM on the Battista Field with the winner getting the #4 seed and the other team being eliminated. Ashland is 0-4 in pool play and will miss the championship round but plays Kenosha at 7:15 PM for the final game of pool play.

Semifinals are Thursday starting at 5 PM and the Championship is Friday with first pitch at 6 PM.

From July 25
The West Madison Nationals beat Ashland 13-4 on Monday at WMLL to remain undefeated at State. At 3-0, the Nationals are tied for the top spot with Kenosha, who beat Madison Kennedy 10-0 in action at West Madison Little League.  In the final game of the evening Glendale topped Rhinelander 15-2 to up their record to 2-1. Kennedy dropped to 1-2, Ashland and Rhinelander are 0-3.

The Nationals and Kenosha will meet Tuesday night at 7:15 PM in a contest of the two undefeated teams.  The action kicks off with Glendale and Kennedy at 5 PM on the Battista Field.  Ashland and Rhinelander meet at 6 PM on the Minor Field.  Wednesday will be the last day of pool play before the semifinals begin on Thursday.

From July 24
The West Madison Nationals beat Rhinelander 13-8 in the State Majors Tournament, extending their record to 2-0 in pool play.  The Nationals took the lead early and never looked back, withstanding comeback runs in both the 5th and 6th innings to secure the win.

The Nationals sit atop the leaderboard at 2-0 along with Kenosha.  Madison Kennedy and Glendale are both 1-1 and Ashland and Rhinelander are 0-2.

The Nationals play Ashland tomorrow night at 5:00 on the Battista Field.  Kenosha plays Kennedy at 6:00 on the Minor Field and Rhinelander faces Glendale in the nightcap at 7:15 on the Battista Field.
