Fall Ball eligibility & age determination

WMLL eligibility requirements for 2020 Fall Ball are different than those used for the both the 2020 summer season & past fall seasons.

To participate in WMLL’s 2020 fall season, players must either:
(1) meet WMLL boundary requirements (= reside or attend school in the Madison West, Madison Memorial or Middleton High School attendance areas) OR
(2) live in Dane County AND have played at WMLL in 2019 or 2020

Since Fall Ball has a developmental focus, players are placed into Fall Ball leagues based upon what their Little League age will be for the next spring/summer season.  WMLL adheres to the “Age Determination Date” requirements established by Little League, Inc.  These requirements are different for baseball & softball.

Baseball: Boys & girls that will be Little League aged 7 to 16 for the 2021 spring/summer season are eligible to play 2020 fall baseball at WMLL.  A player’s age as of August 31, 2021 will be that player’s Little League age for the 2021 spring/summer season & is thus that player’s age for the 2020 Fall Ball season.  (see reference chart here)

Softball: Girls that will be Little League aged 7 to 17 for the 2021 spring/summer season are eligible to play 2020 fall softball at WMLL.  A player’s age as of December 31, 2020 will be that player’s Little League age for the 2021 spring/summer season & is thus that player’s age for the 2020 Fall Ball season.  (see reference chart here)No residency or school requirements exist for Fall Ball.  While Fall Ball is primarily organized to support the needs of the WMLL community, players not living or attending school within the WMLL regular season boundary area (high school attendance area for Madison West, Madison Memorial and Middleton-Cross Plains) are welcome to register and will be placed on teams based on space availability.
