Board Officers

PRESIDENT, Tom Heneghan
Tom joined the board 13 years ago and finished serving his 7th year as President in 2014.  He has stepped up to the plate again and volunteered to serve as President in 2017-18.  He has two daughters who played WMLL Softball and a son who played WMLL Baseball. Tom is an attorney for the Husch Blackwell law firm in Madison. Tom is married and has coached both baseball and softball at WMLL at all levels. He has also served for many years as VP-Softball and on the Softball Committee and coordinated the Softball Rookie, Minor and Major Lgs, as well as the WMLL Commemorative Brick Program. Tom will again be working with umpire training in 2018.


Miller_Harry
VICE PRESIDENT-BASEBALL,  Harry Miller (past president)
Harry is the longest tenured member of the board, having served over 20 years. He has filled a variety of positions in the organization, including President, VP-Baseball, Baseball Operations Committee chair, Umpire Coordinator and Tournament Team Coordinator. Harry has also coordinated several of our special events, such as Little Lg Night at the Brewers and the WMLL 50th Season celebration in 2008. He is married and has two sons who played at WMLL and a daughter who managed the concession stand for a number of years. Harry is retired from the Wisconsin Historical Society Archives and has coached at WMLL in all levels of play. Harry has also coordinated the Fall Ball Junior and Senior Lgs and the regular season Pacific,Badger and Senior Leagues. He is the recipient of the 2012 Vern Ruhle Little Lg Volunteer of the Year award, as presented by the Wis. District 4 Little Lg staff.


VICE PRESIDENT-SOFTBALL, Greg Newman
Greg was appointed to the Board in May, 2015, to fill the position vacated by Chip Hunter.  He has agreed to serve as VP-Softball for 2017-18. Greg has been coaching softball or assisting his daughter’s coaches in WMLL Rookie, Minor and Major softball leagues since 2009. He is married and his other daughter played WMLL for two seasons. Greg works for Exact Sciences as Sr. Manager of the Client Implementation group. He is also co-chairing the Board automation initiative for WMLL for 2017-18.


TREASURER, Bruce Perchik
Bruce was elected to the WMLL Board at the 2017 Annual Meeting. He is excited to contribute to WMLL over the next couple of years as he assumes the duties of Treasurer in 2018. Bruce has been involved with coaching or assisting his son’s teams from Atlantic to Badger Leagues as well as two tournament teams. He and his wife, Barb, have one son who has also been an umpire for WMLL. Bruce appraises commercial real estate and has been employed with the D. L. Evans Company since 2002.

Bob was elected to the WMLL Board at the 2014 Annual Meeting and jumped right in to assume the duties of Registrar.  He has been involved at WMLL for a number of years as coach, assistant coach, scorekeeper and as a member of the Umpire Committee several years ago.  Bob has a son who played from 2006 thru 2014 and a daughter who played baseball four years at WMLL.  His son has also been a Buddy in the Challenger Lg.  Bob is married and works at Certco as IT manager.


Scott Fossum
Scott joined the WMLL Board in August 2018. He coached fall minor league softball in 2017 and spring/summer softball in 2018. Scott and his wife Danielle have three daughters Sophie, Story, and Ruby. Scott’s two older daughters play at WMLL. Scott is currently working on his Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction at UW Madison. He plans to become a high school physics teacher.

Annette was elected to the WMLL Board at the 2016 Annual Meeting. The Fox family started at WMLL in 2009 with their son. Annette has been the Team Rep for her son’s team every year and her husband, John, is also a coach.  She has also volunteered the past few seasons to serve as the budget tracking director for the Board, as well as coordinate the uniform and equipment needs for the Girls’ Softball program. In addition, Annette assisted with umpire scheduling during the 2016 and 2017 spring/summer and fall ball seasons. She works full-time at Queen of Peace Parish. Annette enjoys reading and, of course, watching games at WMLL!


Friedow_Kyle

Kyle Friedow
Kyle was elected to the Board in 2013 and assumed the roles of Atlantic League Coordinator and Tournament Team Coordinator for the 2014 season.  He oversaw  concessions operations in 2016 and 2017, and will continue with the Atlantic Lg and concessions  in 2018.  Kyle is married and has a son who plays at WMLL as well as two older sons who umpire.  He has coached at all levels at WMLL including tournament team play. Kyle has also been heavily involved with youth hockey in the Madison area.


Lenoch_Frank

Frank Lenoch
Frank is a long-time member of the WMLL family having coached four sons through the program. He joined the board in 2007 and immediately assumed the role of Central League Coordinator. In 2011, Frank took over the role of Major Lg Coordinator. The crowning jewel in Frank’s coaching career came in 2009 when he served as the head coach of the WMLL Senior Tournament Team that advanced to the Senior Little League World Series in Bangor, Maine! Frank has also served in a number of other roles including game scheduler and Major Lg Coordinator for the WMLL Fall Ball program. Frank is married and has had all his sons play at WMLL. He continues coaching in the Senior baseball league during summer.


Newburg_Mark

Mark Newburg
Mark is entering his 14th year on the board. He has primarily served as the Pacific Lg Coordinator and Uniform/Equipment Coordinator for the Fall Ball program. He moved into the role of Central Lg Coordinator for 2014. Mark has also been the lead contact for WMLL’s “Night at the Mallards” each year in June. He is married with two sons, both of whom played at WMLL. He has coached at all levels of the program, including tournament teams. In addition to his WMLL activities, Mark volunteers as the Coordinator of the Memorial Tri-County Basketball program, is a member of the West YMCA’s Program and Membership Committee and serves on the National W Club’s Hall of Fame Nominating Committee. Mark is the Sales Manager for Gard Specialists.

Tom Rhatican
Tom was elected to the WMLL Board at the 2016 Annual Meeting and served as 2017 Fall Ball Coordinator and Fall Minor League Coordinator.  Tom has coached school and community basketball, baseball, and soccer teams for more than 15 years and is currently the assistant varsity basketball coach for the Abundant Life / Saint Ambrose boys team. He and his wife, Linda, have three adult children with two boys still playing in WMLL. Tom coached at WMLL the last four seasons.  He is a retired Army aviation officer and an attorney with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.


Tim Richardson
Tim was elected to the WMLL Board at the 2017 Annual Meeting and is in his 6th year as Head Baseball Coach at Madison Memorial.  Prior to that he served as an assistant for one year at Memorial as the pitching coach and 3 years as an assistant at Madison Lafollette High School as  pitching coach.  Tim has conducted the pitching clinic for WMLL players and coaches in the past and helps to get volunteers for the skills sessions at Madison Memorial. Tim is in his 9th year at Memorial as a Special Education teacher and is also in his 6th year as a Faculty Senate member.


Mark Schauder
Mark was elected to the board at the 2017 Annual meeting and will serve with Harry Miller as the League Coordinator for the Pacific League. Mark has been active with WMLL as a coach since 2012 including several tournament teams. He has two sons playing baseball in WMLL and a wife Kathleen that is his Team Coordinator. He has also coached his sons in the Spartan Football program through Madison Memorial High School. Mark is in his sixth year in the Sales Department at CUNA Mutual in Madison.

Jerry Schmitt
Jerry has been on the WMLL Board since 2014. He assumed the duties of Badger League Coordinator for the summer program and Fall Ball Coordinator for Junior and Senior League. He has been a coach in the league since 2008, including several tournament teams. He is married with two sons and a daughter who have played and currently umpire at WMLL and  have been buddies in the Challenger Lg the past several years. Jerry is Vice President of Planning and Survey at KL Engineering, Inc


BarryVredenbregtBarry Vredenbregt
Barry was elected to the Board in October 2015. He has been involved with baseball for most his life as a player, umpire, coach, official scorekeeper and broadcaster. In the last 10 years, Barry has been active with WMLL as a baseball and softball coach in virtually every level as his son and daughter both played in the program. Barry is also the former commissioner of the Wexford Area Baseball League, a tee-ball and coach-pitch league on Madison’s far west side. He is married and since 2001 has been a reporter at the Wisconsin State Journal.


Ex-Officio Board Members

Bill Battista, past Board President
Bill began his WMLL involvement as a coach in 1995 and was elected to WMLL’s Board in 1999. During his time on the Board, Bill served as the President, the Vice President for Baseball, the Major League Coordinator, the Board Liaison to District 4 Little League, and the chair of a number committees. Bill became WMLL’s first Executive Director in 2008 and served in that position for ten years. Bill initiated the fall Challenger League and was its league coordinator from 2009 thru 2014.

 

Brian Beutter, Executive Director
Brian became WMLL’s Executive Director in April 2018.  He was elected to the Board at the 2017 Annual Meeting and is currently serving as the League Coordinator for Minor League Softball, a Recruiting Committee member, an Information Officer.  Brian has coached WMLL softball every regular and fall season since 2016, is currently a Major League softball coach and was the head coach of WMLL’s U10 softball tournament team in 2017 and 2018. His daughters Ocean and Sky both currently play WMLL softball and his wife Sabrina is a head coach for Minor League softball.
