Overview

WHAT IS WMTT?

West Madison Travel Team (WMTT) is intended for WMLL players & families looking for additional opportunities for fun, skill development & personal growth through baseball & softball beyond WMLL’s current spring/summer & fall seasons of play.

WMTT will provide these opportunities via a season that begins with indoor winter practice sessions followed by spring/summer practices & tournament play.  In some ways, WMTT teams can be seen as an expansion of WMLL’s traditional “all star” tournament teams, which, in most cases, WMTT teams will replace in all non-District tournament play.  WMTT teams will provide more development/practice time and more tournament play than WMLL’s traditional “all star” tournament teams.

WMTT & WMLL’S SPRING/SUMMER & FALL SEASONS

WMTT will supplement, not replace WMLL’s spring/summer & fall seasons of play.  As such, any player wanting to participate in WMTT must also be an active participant in WMLL’s spring/summer season.  WMTT players are also encouraged, but not required, to participate in WMLL’s fall season.

WMTT tournaments will be scheduled to avoid conflicts with regular season & league tournament games during WMLL’s spring/summer season and the WMTT season is not active during WMLL’s fall season.  Additionally, no WMTT 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U or 16U baseball tournaments will be scheduled from late-June to late-July to accommodate District team formation, practice & play.

WMTT & WMLL “ALL STAR” TOURNAMENT TEAMS

In most cases, WMTT teams & tournament play will replace the traditional WMLL “all star” tournament teams & all non-District tournament play as follows:

  • Baseball (LL ages 8, 9 & 13) & Softball (LL ages 10, 12 & 14): WMTT teams will replace WMLL’s “all star” tournament teams at these age levels when a WMTT team exists at that age level.  The WMLL Board may elect to field a traditional “all star” tournament team at any of these age levels when either a WMTT team does not exist at that age level or there is sufficient non-WMTT player & coach interest to do so.
  • Baseball (LL ages 10, 11, 12, 14 & 16): WMTT teams will replace WMLL’s “all star” tournament teams in all non-District tournament play at these age levels when a WMTT team exists at that age level.  WMLL will, however, continue to form & field traditional “all star” tournament teams for the official Little League (District / State / Regional / World Series) tournament series at these age levels.  These “all star” tournament teams will no longer play in any tournaments besides the official Little League tournament series.  Moreover, the WMLL Board may elect to field a traditional “all star” tournament team at any of these age levels when either a WMTT team does not exist at that age level or there is sufficient non-WMTT player & coach interest to do so.

WMTT AGE LEVELS

WMTT’s objective is to provide teams at the 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U & 16U levels in baseball & the 10U, 11U, 12U & 14U levels in softball.  WMTT’s ability to provide teams at these age levels is contingent upon having a sufficient number of interested players & coaches at each of these age levels.  As the WMTT program launches & grows, it is anticipated that that there will not be sufficient players & coaches at all age levels to support teams.
