Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at WMLL! 

WMLL is a people-dependent organization.  It takes a lot of work both at & away from the field to make WMLL the special place that it is & to provide our players with everything they need to grow & have fun.

There are countless ways to volunteer at WMLL – both on & off the field.  The list below contains the most common opportunities, but others can be found based on your interests & skills.  Volunteering is helpful, rewarding & fun!


OPPORTUNITIES FOR KIDS

To get more information about or volunteer for any of the following positions, contact the person(s) listed below.

Challenger League Buddy – one per Challenger Lg player / 5 week commitment in September

Umpire (Paid Position) – 2 during spring/summer games & 1 during fall games

Special Event / Special Project Helper – as needed at special events (e.g., Home Run Derby, Movie Night, etc.) or for special projects (e.g., school carnival host, ballpark painting & repairs, etc.)

SINGLE DAY OPPORTUNITIES

To get more information about or volunteer for any of the following positions, contact your team’s head coach and/or team coordinator (formerly team rep).  Aso seek out opportunities as they arise spontaneously on game days.

Concession Stand Helper (click HERE for duties– one per home team per game

Scoreboard Operator – one per visiting team per game

Coach Helper – check with your team’s head coach if they need help in the dugout, at practices, etc.

Fall Ball Base Umpire – one per team per game

Spring Clean-Up Day Helper – one per team 

To volunteer for any of the following positions, notify the appropriate event/project coordinator, the appropriate committee chair or WMLL’s executive director Brian Beutter at brian.beutter@gmail.com.

Special Event Helper – as needed at special events (e.g., Home Run Derby, Used Equipment Sale, Movie Night, etc.)

Special Project Helper – as needed for special projects (e.g., school carnival host, ballpark painting & repairs, ballpark grounds work, etc.)


SINGLE SEASON OPPORTUNITIES

Head Coach – one per team / season long commitment

This position is held by a board member.  If you would like to volunteer as an assistant, notify the appropriate league coordinator.


FLEXIBLE DURATION OPPORTUNITIES

Role-Based Opportunities

      • WMLL Committee Member – Committees include: Marketing & Membership; Fundraising; Facilities; Off-Field Experience; Baseball Operations; Softball Operations; and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (click HERE for details)
      • Special Event Coordinator / Assistant (e.g., Home Run Derby, Used Equipment Sale, Movie Night, etc.) 
      • Special Project Coordinator / Assistant (e.g., school carnival host, ballpark painting & repairs, ballpark grounds work, etc.)
      • Neighborhood or School Captain (pass along prepared WMLL info as needed)
      • Any other role at WMLL that you would like to assist with as a volunteer

Skill-Based Opportunities

        • Construction, electrical, plumbing, painting, & DIY repairs/maintenance
        • Gardening & landscaping
        • Event planning & coordination
        • Fundraising
        • Social media
        • Website design & maintenance
        • Marketing, outreach & communications
        • Any other skill you have that you would like to use while volunteering for WMLL

LONG DURATION (≥1-YEAR) OPPORTUNITIES
